Yankees sweep Red Sox in Fenway in 5 games

This is do or die for Javier Vazquez . Unfortunately for Javy, with the way John Danks has been throwing the ball lately, it is looking more like the latter. Fans are not going to be kind to the man who is making $11.5 million and is being outpitched by 23-year-old Phil Hughes , who is making $447,000.

Yankees-White Sox Series Preview: Can New York Sweep?
Short stop Eduardo Nunez is hitting really well in triple A. On the season he is batting .377. Not only does he lead Scranton in batting average but he leads the team in on base percentage(.442), slugging percentage(.494) and OPS(.935). He also has eight stolen bases which leads Scranton.
In his last 40 at bats alone he has 16 hits and five stolen bases. In his last 10 games he has five multiple hit games which is half.
The best thing about Eduardo is that he’s only 22 years old. Do we have another Derek Jeter on our hands? Derek started playing for the Yankees pro club team as the every day short stop when he was 22 years old and never gave it up.
It’s pretty obvious to me that the Yankees don’t need to search the free agent market for a shortstop when they’ll need one. The question is, when do you promote Eduardo Nunez and when do you put Jeter in the outfield? It’s obviously not this year. The Yankees are pretty stacked at each position. If the Yankees extend Jeter’s contract as a “short stop” what do you do about Nunez? Shop him around? If he continues hitting well in Scranton, how much longer do you keep him down there? You don’t want to stunt his growth by having him stay in triple a the rest of his life.
These are tough questions I’m glad I don’t have to answer. It’s actually a good problem to have. He’s on the 40 man roster so he’s one injury away from a call up.
For those that love to hate the New York Yankees, that brief four-losses-in-five-games skid that the Bronx Bombers encountered in late April was just a tease. The 2010 edition of the Yankees may be better than the 2009 team that claimed the franchise’s 27th World Series title.

Yankees better than you think

Nearly as soon as the Yankees hoisted their World Series trophy Wednesday night, the focus shifted to how New York defeated Philadelphia, and what’s next for the two teams. The AP’s John Klobucar, Ron Blum and Ben Walker discuss the Series. (Nov. 5)
After the hype of Robinson Cano, that is warranted, mind you, I totally ignored the affect that Marcus Thames is having. He did great and is doing great. I didn’t realize what a lefty “killer” he was. Well he’s enforcing the law when he bats against them. He’s a left-handed assassin.
In spring, Marcus Thames only hit a brutal 4-for-52 (.135). For the regular season, all but one of the at-bats have come against left-handed pitchers and when he faces left handed pitchers…. he is 10-for-17 (.588) with a homer and two RBI. It looks as though Thames will continue to get starts when the Yankees hit against left-handed pitchers.
Last night he added to left-handed pitchers misery by going 3-for-3 with one RBI and one walk. Now that’s not fair… to left handed pitchers. Let them be on alert that when they face Marcus Thames, they will be eliminated and disgraced all over the pitchers mound. Learn to step off or else you’ll lose and you’ll lose, “big.”
On the season, are you ready for “this” stat? He is 10-for-17 which is a .588 batting average, a home run and two RBI. Just think, all of this production for the price of $900,000.
